The effect of light spectra in the culture of corals, is highly species dependent. It appears that most efficient coral growth is invariably attained at low irradiance. These are the results of a study, carried out for the Coral Farm project in which MichaŽl Laterveer of Blue Linked was involved.
Culturing corals for commercial purposes is impossible without an understanding of the factors that optimize their growth rate. The results of the study are published Advanced Aquarist (Febuary 2013). Main author is coral specialist Tim Wijgerde (Wageningen University and Research Centre, the Netherlands).
